All taking place without the consent of the populaces.
University education priced out of reach of all but the wealthiest elite. This includes cheaper alternatives, such as the Open University in the UK.
Dumbing down of education for everyone except the elite who continue to be taught by traditional effective methods.
National boundaries effectively dissolved. This gives easy access to the global elite to the top jobs everywhere in the world, while opening up competition for the lower jobs to world mass competition
At the same time, social class boundaries have become rigid from class to caste. There is no reason for anyone to be on a 6-figure salary, especially paid out of the public purse, when there is a world glut of intelligent, educated people perfectly able to do any of these jobs for £50k. But the elite have ring-fenced themselves from competition.
SAVINGS and PENSIONS
Pensions raided and trashed – except for the elite.
Interest on savings reduced to close to zero while inflation erodes capital – the destruction of the spending power of money accelerated by policies such as Quantitative Easing (printing money).
A range of policies adopted to maximise house prices/rents. These policies include abolishing cheaper alternatives. Social housing reduced and restricted. Abolition of fair rents. Cheap bed sit accommodation converted into expensive flats. No legal definition of the size of a room. Hotel and Bed and Breakfast prices rise to stay ahead of rents. Prices in hostels and camping sites rise to equalise rents. Squatting and unofficial camping criminalised. Living in your car criminalised. The criminalisation of homelessness. (Perfect monopoly capitalism – pay our extortionate prices or be criminalised).
Utilities and other parts of the national infrastructure privatised and run for personal profit rather than providing a public service. Effectively such services are monopolies – and increasingly they are being run as monopolies. Providing, or not providing, whatever service they feel like and charging what they want. Extortion is another good word for it. The citizen has paid three times for a service that in the end they might not even get. Firstly in their taxes which paid for the infrastructure in the first place (power grid, water system, railway system, roads, etc). Secondly in the hiked up prices after the service is “privatised”. Thirdly, in taxes again, in a public funded bail-out when the service fails for any reason or cannot afford infrastructure investment costs.
Wages frozen, retirement age put back, except for the 6-figure elite, who continue to receive multi-thousand pound pay rises, and swan from job to job collecting gold plated pensions in each one.
Wages depressed below subsistence. Welfare withdrawn.
Small businesses taxed to extinction, and bureaucratically harassed.
Taxes, already nearly half of income, continue to increase, while services are stopped, reduced or charged for, and pensions put back and welfare reduced, restricted and refused. Note the various phenomena here. Charging Council Tax for provision of services, then taking the service away. Or continuing to provide the service, which you have paid for in your Council Tax, then charging you if you use it – double charging in other words. Likewise with general taxation. You pay nearly half your income in taxes to the government, but when you need Welfare or your Pension – they do everything to avoid paying out/delay paying. They have spent the money elsewhere on things you neither chose nor consented to. But they continue to take your money. And do everything possible to deny you the services you have paid for.
Democracy subverted – effectively abolished in European countries. Politicians are no longer accountable to the electorate. The populace has lost what little leverage they had on their representatives.
Laws being changed from – you are permitted to do anything so long as it is not against the law to you are not allowed to do anything without permission first.
Massive invasion of law into every aspect of life, while criminal behaviour against ordinary people ignored.
Abolition of privacy. Not only CCTV cameras everywhere, but the insistence that all confidential information about the citizen belongs to the state.
The ruling elite above the law, just like 3rd world despots. Everyone else harassed by the law at every turn.
CONTROL OF COMMUNICATIONS
Ludicrous laws censoring speech, which in the process censors thought.
TV abandoning purpose to inform, educate and entertain. Open University programmes and Learning Zone programmes almost non-existent. Intelligent documentaries infrequent. Yet the BBC continues to collect its licence fee. Programmes dumbed down to infantile level but for their prurient content. Stigmatisation of the working class. Ignoring the elderly. News about celebrities but little on national and world affairs. Endless propaganda pushing one single political agenda. Suppression of reasoned debate and alternative viewpoints. Biased reporting. Anything that does not support the ruling political agenda ignored or down-played. We are part of Europe but hardly ever get any European news.
Stifling of the press. Suppression of journalists. Attempts to censor the web.
Everything for the few, nothing for the many. Feudalism. Dictatorship by an unaccountable ruling class who view every person and every resource in the world and society as their personal property, to be used as they please. Law as a weapon to be used against anyone who objects.
