Anyone that is a regular reader of my blog will know I was once a victim of domestic violence [read my story here] and I can say with NO equivocation that domestic violence is extremely hard to spot [unless you live next door] and women lie out of shame, terror and pure helplessness.
My children and I walked away with the clothes on our backs [we were not poor my husband had his own business]. I can’t explain the joy of being safe, I had no money [becuse he’d controlled every aspect of our lives] but, you can’t put a price on your peace of mind.
Sometimes [an untrained person] interfering in a DV victim’s life can do more harm than good and endanger a woman [I attend the jobcentre regularly with my autistic son and the staff there couldn’t spot the moon – never mind a DV victim]. The…
