Food for thought from Lee Camp as published in truthdig. Now, as to how we fix this predicament – I really don’t think Donald Trump and Donald Trump alone can solved it. He seems preoccupied with making the status quo increasingly more unequal. – RJC

You cannot comprehend the level of inequality in our current world or even just our nation, but we choose to continue to live like this.

Dear Kitty. Some blog

This 28 May 2016 video says about itself:

‘I’ve lived with death threats for 10 years’: Roberto Saviano – BBC News

Speaking out about the mafia can come at a price and for writer Roberto Saviano that has meant 10 years living under police protection. In a book published in 2006, he exposed the activities of the Camorra, a mafia organisation based in Naples, described as Italy’s most bloody and ruthless criminal group. Matthew Price spoke to Mr Saviano, for the Victoria Derbyshire programme, about living with a death threat from the mafia.

Translated from Dutch NOS TV today:

Gomorra author Saviano sued after denunciation by Lega minister

The public prosecutor in Rome prosecutes Roberto Saviano, the writer of the bestseller Gomorrah, for defamation and slander. Minister Salvini of the Interior, also leader of the right-wing … Lega [party], had filed a complaint against him.

Saviano is…

According to an Oxfam report, of nearly 16,500 migrants, at least a quarter of them children had passed through Ventimiglia in the nine months to April.

Children crossing the border are being sexually exploited to pay for their safe passage into France from the Italian border, a report by Save the Children Italy, pointed out.

According to the report, the minors, mostly from sub-Saharan Africa are being forced to perform sexual acts if they aren’t able to pay the drivers around US$180 to cross the border, with some children even being offered food or shelter in return for the abuse.  The charity says it has evidence of many…

Russian Infiltration Of Word Press Blogs

We Hold These Truths To Be Self-Evident

In spite of Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell warning Russia to “quit messing around in our elections,” Russians have not stopped.  They continue their influence and propaganda.  With social media such as Facebook and Twitter taking note and making changes, Russian propagandists have turned to Word Press blogs.

Earlier this year, I received notifications from Word Press for email followers.  I didn’t pay much attention to the first one because there are people who follow this blog via email who do not have Word Press accounts to comment.   When I received two more notifications on the same day, and they too had Outlook email addresses, I knew that was not usual.  I checked a Word Press forum and found that others were experiencing the same and were concerned about it.

A thread in one Word Press forum began in January 2018.   Also in January, a blogger named Ray wrote…

Tales from the Conspiratum

“It’s become more lucrative and much safer to sell malleable teens than drugs or guns. A pound of heroin or an AK-47 can be retailed once, but a young girl can be sold 10 to 15 times a day,” notes the report on trafficking.

They’re called the Little Barbies.

(Rutherford Institute) Children, young girls—some as young as 9 years old—are being bought and sold for sex in America. The average age for a young woman being sold for sex is now 13 years old.

This is America’s dirty little secret.

According to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, “Children are being targeted and sold for sex in America every day.”

Sex trafficking—especially when it comes to the buying and selling of young girls—has become big business in America, the fastest growing business in organized crime and the

and

W. Benjamin Skinner, A Crime So Monstrous:
Face-to-Face With Modern Day Slavery

Both Misha Glenny’s, “McMafia: A Journey Through the Global Criminal Underworld,” and W. Benjamin Skinner’s “A Crime So Monstrous: Face-to-Face With Modern Day Slavery” treat organized crime in the late 20th and 21st centuries. Unlike most of the books reviewed here, these two are directly related to my day job. I initially read both in 2009, while serving as the US Department of Justice representative in Bulgaria. I was there to assist the Bulgarians in strengthening their capacity to combat organized crime and especially one of its most virulent manifestations, trafficking in human beings. Glenny explains the globalization of organized crime networks since the collapse of the Soviet Union and Communist regimes in Eastern Europe, while Skinner delivers an impassioned exposure of the human trafficking phenomenon.

The Universal Scapegoat

“A woman’s place is in the wrong”

No human being is infallible.  Agree? So it is a bit unreasonable to require a standard of infallibility from anyone.  We all make mistakes.

Even women aren’t infallible.  They are only human.  They make mistakes.  And often society punishes them severely for those mistakes. No leniency. No margin for error.  Circumstances not taken into account.

A tough standard, eh?

But for women it doesn’t stop there. Women also get the blame and are punished for men’s mistakes. Men whose behaviour they cannot control.

And further, women are blamed and held responsible for their children’s mistakes, childhood being the state where all of us are most error-prone.

There you have it.  Women.  The universal scapegoat.

Question

What’s the difference between being a woman and being a slave?

  • Run all the risks: Do all the work: Get none of the rewards:
  • Get all the blame.

THE OBJECT OF MY PROJECT: Who’s in Charge

DENNIS L BLEWITT, J.D. May, 2016

I digress from the sequence if my narrative to answer some observation, questions and revelations I’ve discovered since my first article of my war with the CIA.  Many readers have expressed the attitude “so what else is new, that’s interesting, what did you expect, etc.”  I have had comments from all over the political spectrum.  From that, I see a pattern evolving.  Both sides are suspicious of both the Government and the elite.  Most readers now accept that the Government or at least a Government agency is behind the drug trade and has been for quite some time.  “If [we] all know this, why are your writing about it?”

Well, the reason is that it is still going on.  People are still going to jail.  The police state is advancing, and our rights are still jeopardized.  It…

Lucky Otters Haven

orwell_words

Despots and dictators throughout history know how powerful language can be, and they know that by changing the definitions of words, without people realizing it, they can change the way people think and what they believe.   Without language and the words that comprise it, propaganda and revisionist history (changing commonly held historical beliefs in order to fit a desired political or religious narrative) would become impossible, or at least a lot more difficult.

George Orwell described the insidious process of changing the meanings of words in order to change public attitudes in his classic dystopian novel, “1984.”    He called this process “Newspeak.”   It is a form of mind control commonly used by cult leaders and dictators to get people to abandon their previous ways of thinking and accept a lie as the truth (repetition of the lie is another way they get people to accept it).    Sometimes the…
