One of this blog’s recurring themes has been interpersonal abuse across the life spectrum, and with it the importance of understanding of trauma in different contexts. My dear friend Mary Louise Allen, a psychology professor and activist, has become an emerging voice for trauma victims, and I’d like to share a compelling piece that she just published.
Mary Louise has experienced abuse and assault, as well as repeated institutional stonewalling and legal irregularities in her efforts to obtain assistance and justice in her home state of Ohio. Recently, she was asked how someone could support abuse victims who are dealing with ongoing trauma. GR: Joe Bish of the Population Media Center directed my attention to this story published last week. It is a clear, short exposition of the population problem that I highly recommend. Note that the best solution to overpopulation is freedom, the freedom to choose. Are women just maids and baby producers or are they individuals with rights of their own?

Family of Telford paedophile victim say police ignored their pleas to prosecute girl’s killer
Lucy Lowe was just 14 when sick Azhar Ali Mehmood murdered her along with her mum and sister in 2000 – now her family want to know why the police failed to act on their warnings
The family of murdered Telford victim Lucy Lowe have revealed police snubbed pleas to prosecute her killer for child abuse 18 years ago.
Paedophile Azhar Ali Mehmood fathered her baby when she was 14 and then murdered her along with mum Eileen and sister Sarah, 17, in an arson attack on the family home in 2000.
Mehmood – 10 years older than Lucy and described as her “boyfriend” – got life over the deaths the next year but was never prosecuted for child abuse.
He is now eligible for parole and her family are horrified that he may be back…
